Avis’s Place
Where everyone is welcome.
Avis’s Place is a service for people with intellectual disabilities— a place where they can socialize with peers in a safe environment. The centre offers social, recreational, and educational opportunities for Community Living Disability Services participants. Avis’s Place also offers pre-employment skills development, job training, and community engagement to support greater independence and participation in the community.
Avis’s Place is a safe place where participants can feel valued and engage with their peers in social, recreational and educational activities. Our main objectives are to increase involvement in the community, decrease isolation, and increase participation in community events and activities. We want to help facilitate greater opportunities for our participants to obtain life and pre-employment skill development, along with volunteer or work experience.
We assist in developing strong social and communication networks and strive to enhance independent living skills and social development, including problem solving, decision making, and working towards fulfillment of personal goals.
To become a member all you have to do is visit the centre at 759 – 1st Street in Brandon, Manitoba, and fill out a Member Application Form.
